About IKEA
In 1973, IKEA opened its first furniture store outside Scandinavia in Switzerland. In 1986, 40 years ago, the warehouse in Itingen began operations. As a distribution centre, it supplied IKEA furniture stores in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany for decades. In 2019, the distribution centre was transformed into a fulfilment centre that delivered directly to customers. In response to changing customer needs, IKEA has extensively refurbished and modernised the warehouse in Itingen. Through targeted automation, it has evolved into an innovative, future-oriented customer fulfilment centre. At the heart of this remains IKEA’s vision: ‘to create a better everyday life for the many people.’
